About
An independent, community-based initiative in Upper Marlboro, Maryland — built for military families raising children with disabilities, and for the workers who deserve dignified employment.
Mission & vision
Mission: Equip military families raising children with disabilities — and all military families in transition — with practical tools, purposeful employment, and community support that transform readiness into resilience.
Vision: Every military family raising a child with a disability is met at every duty station with tools, advocacy support, and community connections — and every disabled adult or veteran who wants to work has a dignified place to do so.
Values
- Dignity — honor people; do not process them
- Readiness — for the whole person and family
- Community — neighbors caring for neighbors at scale
- Advocacy — equip families to speak for themselves
- Inclusion — employment as good stewardship, not charity
- Purpose in Action — compassion turned into systems and jobs
Leadership & place
Founded and led by Debra, Program Director, with deep roots in community outreach connecting families — especially those raising children with disabilities — to resources and advocacy support.
Upper Marlboro sits near a dense mid-Atlantic military corridor, within reach of major installations and family support offices that make local partnership both strategic and personal.
How we are structured
The program is designed for a dual legal structure that supports both mission and sustainability:
- Program arm — Independent Nonprofit (501(c)(3)): employment programming and family readiness delivery via grants, donations, and workshop fees
- Enterprise arm — Social Enterprise / LLC or VSBE-certified entity: kit manufacturing, sales, and federal procurement pathways
A lean staffing model grows with revenue and impact — from program leadership and production supervision to job coaching, family readiness coordination, fulfillment, and volunteer support.
